CONTENT JOHNSON is the founder and CEO of Kuumba Krimes, LLC. Ms. Johnson has a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Communications from American University. Her primary academic interests include research and creative writing; her professional background includes event planning and management as well as many years of outstanding customer service. Ms. Johnson is a certified bartender, wine consultant, and a self-trained culinary artist.
"I simply stumbled across the idea of creating Kuumba Krimes. Initially, the venture planned to be, KUUMBA, a restaurant that showcased a creative fusion of Afro-Diasporan food and entertainment. As the concept began to develop, it evolved into a totally different monster. I considered a 'pop up' restaurant that would operate more like a catering company -- bring the restaurant to your home, your office, anywhere. But then I began to think of all the new 'pop up' restaurants as well as catering companies that already existed and asked myself, 'what can my company offer that none of the others do?' That's when the idea of murder mystery dinner parties appeared. While many murder mystery games exist, there is an absence in stories that highlight the history, heritage, and culture of the African diaspora. With my background in African-American Studies and event planning as well as my love of food and parties, Kuumba Krimes was definitely a prime opportunity for new exploration."
