Saint Domingue is a historical drama with a hint of fantasy and horror. The title Saint Domingue is the colonial name for Ayiti/Haiti and the story is inspired by true events.

The setting begins in present-day Nigeria with a Mega Church pastor named Joseph, who is in the middle of a media war with Tiwa Ado, leader of the Nigerian Women’s Labor Union. The problem is Tiwa Ado wants to acquire a vacant factory to create jobs and change the socioeconomics of Nigeria; Joseph wants to purchase the factory to transform it into a second mega church.

Since the start of the feud, Joseph has been having nightmares and visions of an eerie old woman dressed in a rugged red, white, and blue African gown. The woman is an ancient spirit that possesses modern day people who refuse to honor their cultural heritage and history.

One day, Joseph stumbles across an antique book filled with pictures of a slave insurrection. He opens the book and releases a spell that transports him back to 18th Century Haiti. In colonial Haiti (Saint Domingue), Joseph assumes the identity of Boukman, a real historical figure in Haitian history. Overall, the musical offers a fictitious account of the year leading up to the Haitian Revolution; specifically, the night the revolution was launched under the leadership of Boukman during the historic Bois Caïman Vodou Ceremony.
